If you are new to massage therapy, you may immediately think of the obvious issues that RMTs treat: headaches, postural problems, neck, shoulder and/or low back pain, sprains and strains.

However, massage therapy is not simply rubbing a sore muscle. I believe that massage therapy treats a person holistically and on many levels. On a physical level it is most important that we systematically treat the root of the matter with appropriate massage therapy techniques and form a thorough treatment plan. It is also crucial to preventing reoccurrences by educating and giving effective home care techniques.

On an emotional level, I also believe in providing a healing space in which my client can unwind, silence their mind, and remember their bodies. Touch is so elementary and so often overlooked.

Most complaints I have heard from my clients have been that they found it difficult to find RMTs that provide appropriate pressure for them. It's either too shallow, fluffy and inefficient, and less often too deep or too painful.

My treatments combine deep-tissue Swedish massage therapy with an emphasis on connective tissue techniques and encouragement of body-awareness. I understand though that everyone is different, and my treatments respond to the often-changing needs of each individual. That includes using a variety of techniques, ranges of depth and pressure, prioritizing the areas being treated and lastly the length and frequency of therapy.
